What's in for Fall 2025?
Diane Pollack
As the temperatures finally start to drop for fall, I am here with my 2025 fall fashion update. This season feels like there is so much to write about that I am making this a 2-part series.
Remember when we were emerging out of the pandemic? There was a lot of talk about maximalism, and people were getting dressed for the new roaring twenties of the 21st century.
A few years later, many thanks to the show Succession, quiet luxury swung the pendulum the other way. And now we are back, talking about maximalisim again with the added concept of individuality and personalization (hello bag charms).
Now, here are my thoughts on this whole concept. Some people may have diverse style personalities and go with these trends with a little of both in their wardrobe. But a person who truly likes the classics is not going to sway with the trends. And a person who enjoys color, print, and interesting embellishment (hello, that is me!) is never going to wear quiet luxury, even if it is trending.
NOW LET'S GET TO SOME OF THE SPECIFIC TRENDS.
Brown Suede is Everywhere
It looks rich in jackets and handbags. Tan suede is a great seasonal update for those white sneakers, and also looks luxe and is a great neutral.
Western Inspo
A perfect segue from suede is an area that uses a lot of suede in a very specific way, and that is the western trend that has been going on and continues to be strong. So you will see fringe bags, jackets, and cowboy boots galore.
Decades Are Back (Again)
The past decades are also always something that seems to get reinvented in fashion. This season, they are really pulling from so many decades. You will find:
60's Mod, A-line mini skirts and dresses, lots of use of Avocado and Orange.
70's Boho. The luxe looks get lots of inspiration from Chloe. Flared denim, ruffle, and yoke blouses,
80's Volume. Power suits, nipped in waists and shoulder pads.
90's Minimalism (despite the mention of maximalism).
And of course, so many looks from Y2K, especially in the more casual street styles.

Feminine Touches like bows, ruffles, lace, and florals.
Preppy Styles include twinsets, polos, loafers, and boat shoes. Remember that country club look of casually throwing your sweater over your shoulder? Now you can buy sweaters with a faux piece to create that effortlessly styled and casual look.
Related to and overlapping with preppy are the classic country styles. You saw those barn and chore jackets last year. Other items include traditional fall fabrications like corduroy and woolly menswear patterns and classic plaids in fabrications like flannels. And equestrian styles (including sweaters with horses).
Then, in true maximalist style, you have colorful printed sweaters and playful layering. Many styles with texture included with the colors.
And there is so much more. Stay tuned for my list of styles, colors, fabrics, and accessories that bring some fun updates to your fall wardrobe.
