As we prepare to transition, my client, a 60+ woman, wanted an updated look, incorporating trends while still being age appropriate. She had purchased these adorable leopard print drawstring pants, but needed to accessorize them for a more stylized look.
Top - It is a neutral, so it does "go", however the color was a dirty mocha that did not really pick up the warm Brown or Caramels in the print. The shape and style were also OK, but only OK.
Bag - Black is a perfectly fine choose for this outfit. However, this bag was just a plain nylon bag, no style, with a strap that was neither "here nor there" length and did not look expensive.
Shoes - Although leopard print with red is a classic fabulous combination, these shoes were not doing it. They were clunky in a Birkenstock way, but did not have some of the more updated elements (metallics, studs, prints) that have made these style shoes trendy lately. Furthermore, the trendy Birkenstock style shoes were tagged as ugly fashion. This means unless you are a young Fashionista type- BEWARE. Hard to be worn well by the everyday woman.
Top - The tee is a classic style, fitted, to balance the baggy pants, but not too clingy. Tucked in gives a more flattering look to the mid-section.
Bag - A warm Tobacco that really brought out the neutrals in the print. A structured boxy shape that is happening right now. Nice gold hardware that makes it look classy and expensive. Style wise - it also has a nice jungle safari vibe to go with the print.
Shoes - A light Caramel color, that blends well with the print. A classic thin "T" strap and a very tiny block heel. Very of the moment and yet classic and age appropriate.
Necklace - Accessories, such as a statement necklace, really take a look from fine to fabulous. The necklace, breaks-up all the black area from a high neck Tee. This outfit is best with a warm metal ( Gold, Antique Brass, Rose Gold) to play back to the Browns and warm colors. It also matches back to the hardware on the bag.
